New Years Eve is always a day we look forward to! It is spent with some of our very best friends- The Hicks Family. The kids had a wonderful time playing together all weekend.
On New Years day Mark and Daniel took the boys to collect wood for the bonfire and to run errands. Heidi and I had girl time: we went shopping, painted our toe nails, and tried to learn new ways to style our hair.
Heidi's brother and his sweet wife, Taryn, stopped by to visit. They are expecting their first baby boy this summer. We are so happy for them- they will be amazing parents.
As soon as it got dark we started the fire and roasted marshmallows.
The kids played with sparklers. Mark is cautiously handing out the sparklers here.

At 9:00 we had a mock count down for the kids! We pulled up a video of last years count down and let them watch it. We got really excited~ we counted down 10-9-8- ... yelled Happy New Year and kissed everyone! The kids thought it was wonderful! Here they are watching the ball drop as we were counting down in the background.
We put the kids to bed: enjoyed the fire pit, played games, ate snacks, and celebrated the New Year!
