Journey to Bethlehem

This past weekend we went to Burnt Hickory Baptist Church to see Journey to Bethlehem. As soon as you get to the front doors of the church you realize they have built a brick wall - you are entering Bethlehem. When you open the door you are in the market and really felt like you have been set back in time. Everyone was dressed wonderfully! The teenage boys were wearing guards/solider outfits, the men were making wood furniture, the ladies were selling breads and clothing, the children were running around playing or helping with the animals. Yes, real animals!
Andy loved the real animals
As we walked up and down the roads (church halls) we passed a tax collector, story teller, market women, and then Mary and Joseph. Joseph asked Mark if we knew anywhere that he and his wife, Mary, could stay. Mark said, "Yes, I think there is an Inn down that there". We tried to explain to Andrew that they were pretending to be Mary and Joseph from the Bible. Bless his heart- He looked so confused... we have been reading the bible story nightly and he reenacts it with his Little People Nativity Set... but when we saw people in person he was a little taken back :)

That's a great picture of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus! Would you mind emailing it to me so that I can email it to Laura (baby Jesus's mom).
