compassion over consumption

Christmas 2011

We just love this sweet family and our so blessed to have meet them. Do you remember our Burmese friends? We meet them Thanksgiving of 2010, when we partnered with World Vision to bring Thanksgiving baskets to refuges. You can read about the first time we meet them here. After meeting them, we fell in love with their contagious joy and wanted to provide Christmas for them.  We asked Mark's parents Sunday School class to help us and they did- and in abundance! We really learned it is better to give than to receive. You can read about it here if you want.

Throughout the year we have kept in touch with the Burmese family and have gone to visit every other month. They are the kindest most joyful people you will ever meet. They love the Lord Jesus Christ and understand that true JOY comes from Him and not material possessions. I have so much to learn from them! I came across this quote and it made me think of the this sweet family.

Doesn't that make you stop and think? I love it! So this year we returned and brought Christmas presents to the Burmese family. We hope to provide Christmas gifts for someone each year. We don't have much money but Mark and I have decided not get each other Christmas gifts and hope to bless someone else instead.  Our hope is that they see Jesus through us and realize that HE really is the BEST gift! Andrew remembers the Burmese Family and goes with us when we visit. He has been saving his "moneys" for them. We were so blessed to provide a small gift for everyone and see how thankful they are. I promise it's better to give than receive. The joy that comes from giving is amazing!

"Every good and perfect gift is from above..." James 1:17. God is the best giver of gifts, starting with Jesus.
